Selecting an Area
Rug |
Rooms :
If you want to
cover a room, choose a rug that is two feet shorter than the
smallest wall in the
room. If your study is 10’ x 12’ then look for a rug no more than 8’
wide. For a larger room, such as a
living room, look for a rug that covers and frames the area where
the furniture is placed. The rug should
be big enough so that at least the front third of the furniture sits
on the rug.
Entry Hall :
For a hallway,
swing the front door open and then measure the floor from that point
so that
the first three feet remain clear. Hall rugs should have at least 6”
of floor showing on all sides.
Dining Room :
A rug in a dining
room should extend at least 18” beyond the edge of the table so that
it
accommodates the dining chairs.
Bedroom :
Try runners at each side and even the foot of the bed. Or place a
rug one-third of the way
under the foot of the bed so the rest of the rug creates a nice mat
at the foot of the bed. |
